Messi magic denies Iran draw

Lionel Messsi broke Iranian hearts with a stoppage-time winner. A well-organised Iranian side limited Argentina's chances and began to create their own after the break. Having a penalty shout turned down in the 55th minute Iran came closest in the 67th minute when Dejagah's header was tipped over the bar, but in time added on Messi received the ball outside the box, took a step to the left and curled it past the diving Haghighi into the top corner to win the match and send Argentina to the next round.

Germans fight back for Ghana draw

Germany 2 Ghana 2 (Fortaleza)

Miroslav Klose scored with his first touch to deny Ghana victory over Germany. The match came to life in the second half when Müller delivered the ball between 2 defenders in the 51st minute and Mario Götze headed the ball in off his own knee, and 3 minutes later Andre Ayew got up high to head a cross in beyond Neuer. In the 63rd minute Muntari slipped the ball through to Asamoah Gyan who advanced into the box and slammed it in across goal, but in the 71st minute, just moments after coming on, Klose stuck out a foot to see Höwedes' header over the line and earn Germany a point.

Nigeria send Bosnia home

Nigeria 1 Bosnia and Herzegovina 0 (Cuiaba)

Bosnia and Herzegovina were eliminated after losing their second match in a row. The Bosnians, who had a Dzeko goal wrongly disallowed for offside in the 22nd minute, fell behind to Nigeria in the 29th minute when Emenike ran into the box and pulled the ball back for Peter Odemwingie to knock in between the keeper and the near post. Bosnia came close to getting a lifeline with almost the last kick of the match when Dzeko turned in the box but saw his weak shot hit the keeper and come off the post.
