Spain earn late win

A last gasp goal by David Villa gave Spain a 2-1 win over Sweden. In the 15th minute Villa received the ball from a corner-kick and sent it into the box where Fernando Torres sticks out a foot to divert it into the Swedish goal, but after 34 minutes Zlatan Ibrahimovic brought a cross down and after a slight mis-kick squeezed it past Casillas for the equaliser. Spain had a penalty appeal turned down just before the break, but after creating several chances in the 2nd half, finally got the goal they deserved when Sweden failed to deal with a long ball and David Villa slid the ball past Isaksson in stoppage time. (Spain 2 Sweden 1)

Greece lose Euro crown

A defeat to Russia ended the hopes of the reigning European champions, Greece. The only goal of the match came in the 33rd minute when Greek keeper Nikopolidis chased a cross leaving his goal unguarded allowing Semak to send the ball back towards goal with an overhead kick for Zyrianov to find the net. Greece were unable to threaten the Russian goal in the 2nd half, and Pavlyuchenko blasted a sitter over the bar for Russia just before the final whistle which signalled the end of the Greek reign as European champions. (Russia 1 Greece 0)
