Greeks Dethrone France

France lost their crown without much resistance when they went down 1-0 to Greece. There were very few chances in the match. Shots by Nikolaidis, Katsouranis and Fyssas were easily dealt with by Barthez in the first half. The closest Greece came to scoring in the first half was in the 15th minute when Katsouranis got a foot to cross, but his effort came off the post, and Barthez managed to stop the ball from crossing the line. France created their first chances in the second half, but Nikopolidis was only tested once when he had to get down in the 63rd minute to save a shot from Thierry Henry. Two minutes later Zagorakis lifted the ball over Lizarazu and delivered a perfect cross for Haristeas to score with an unstoppable cross. With 3 minutes left, Henry's header was just wide, and Greece went on to win the match and knock the holders out of the competition.
