Goalless celebrations

Tuesday 3 July 2007 Venezuela
Venezuela 0-0 Uruguay

A goalless draw was enough to see both Uruguay and Venezuela reach the knockout round.
Hosts Venezuela had already qualified, but Uruguay who had started the campaign with a 3-0 defeat needed to avoid defeat. Neither team created any clear cut chances. Forlan saw his shot dip over the bar in the 52nd minute and Venezuela only just missed the target from a free-kick in the last minute of the match, but the draw was enough to give the hosts top spot in the group.

Pizarro double saves Peru

Tuesday 3 July 2007 Venezuela
Peru 2-2 Bolivia

Two headed goals by Pizarro gave Peru the draw they needed to eliminate Bolivia.
Bolivia started positively and took the lead when Moreno lifted the ball brilliantly into the corner of the net from just outside the box. Marino crossed the ball from a free-kick for Pizarro to score with a fine header in the 33rd minute. Campos smashed the ball in off the bar with the last kick of the first half, but despite having Herrera sent off for a second bookable offence in the 77th minute, Pizarro equalized for Peru with another header in the 84th minute to send Bolivia home.
