Argentina shine through

A powerful second-half performance gave Argentina a 4-0 win against Peru.
A mesmerizing Messi run that ended in his shot being deflected off the woodwork was the highlight of the first half, but the second half was only 2 minutes old when Riquelme drilled the ball into the net with his left foot. Tevez headed the ball against the bar after a good run and cross by Zanetti 3 minutes later. In the 61st minute Riquelme delivered a beautifully weighted pass to Messi who slotted the ball through the legs of the keeper to double Argentina's lead. Butron made a splendid save from a close-range Messi effort in the 75th minute, but Mascherano was on hand to bury the rebound. With 5 minutes left Tevez won the ball in midfield and broke through, finding Riquelme who passed the ball into the corner of the net giving Argentina an easy 4-0 victory.

Mexico punish Paraguay

Mexico 6-0 Paraguay

Mexico ran riot putting 6 past Paraguay in the quarter-final of the Copa America.
The nightmare began for Paraguay in the 2nd minute when Castillo latched onto a weak back pass and was brought down by the keeper Bobadilla who was shown the red card. Castillo beat debutant Zayas with a well taken penalty. In the 27th minute Torrado scored off the crossbar when he received the ball unchallenged in the box. Paraguay went further behind 11 minutes later when they allowed Castillo time and space to pick his spot. Mexico could have extended their lead in the first half but had a goal disallowed and saw Correa miss an open goal. Paraguay woke up in the second half, but failed to find the net. Caceres had his powerful header saved by the Mexican keeper in the 76th minute, but 3 minutes later Mexico scored again when Arce saw Zayas off his line and lifted the ball over him for Mexico's fourth. Mexico were awarded in penalty in the 86th minute and Blanco ran up to kick the ball past the stationary Keeper. Omar Bravo tucked in a header in stoppage time to complete the nightmare for Paraguay.
