(Brazil 2 Uruguay 1)

Uruguay were awarded a penalty in the 13th minutes when David Luis wrestled an opponent following a corner kick, but Julio Cesar got down to his left to save from Diego Forlan. Brazil took the lead 4 minutes before the break when Neymar chested a long pass forward into the box but saw his effort blocked by Muslera only for Fred to knock inn the loose ball. Three minutes after the interval Kavani took advantage of some indecisive Brazilian defending in the box to roll the ball into the far corner, but Paulinho headed in the winner for Brazil from a corner kick 4 minutes from time.

Spain win final spot
(Spain 0 Italy 0) Spain win on penalties
World champions Spain overcame Italy in a penalty shootout to face hosts Brazil in the Confederations Cup final. In the searing heat of Fortaleza it was the Italians who had the better of the first half with Maggio coming closest in the 36th minute when he steered his close-range diving header straight at Casillas. The second half was a more equal affair with very few chances to bother either keeper. Giaccherini slammed the ball against the post from inside the box 4 minutes into extra time and with Spain springing into life and pushing for a winner Xavi had his swerving shot palmed onto the post by Buffon in the 115th minute. In the shootout Candreva's cheeky dink was followed by 11 near perfect penalties until Bonucci blasted high over the bar and Navas converted to send Spain to the final.

Italy bury penalty ghost
(Italy 2 Uruguay 2) Italy win on penalties
Gianluigi Buffon saved 3 penalties in the shootout against Uruguay as Italy claimed 3rd spot in the Confederations Cup. In the 24th minute Diamanti swung in a free kick from the right that hit the upright and came off Muslera for Astori to help over the line, but Uruguay were level in the 58th minute when Gargano passed the ball into the box to Cavani who stroked it into the far corner. Buffon made a double save from Forlan in the 67th minute and Italy regained the lead in the 73rd minute when Diamanti curled a free kick brilliantly over the wall and into the bottom corner, but 5 minutes later Cavani came to the rescue beating Buffon with a splendid free kick from 30 yards out. Montolivio was dismissed for a second yellow 10 minutes before the end of extra time, but Uruguay were unable to capitalize. In the shootout Buffon saved shaky penalties from Forlan, Caceres and Gargano to hand Italy 3rd place.

Brazil masters of the Maracana
(Brazil 3 Spain 0)
In an electrifying Maracana, Brazil overwhelmed Spain to claim their third consecutive Confederations Cup. With only 2 minutes gone a cross fell to Fred who knocked the ball in from a lying position in front of goal. Spain came close in the 40th minutes when Pedro beat Julio Cesar but David Luiz slid in heroically to clear off the line and a minute before the break Brazil went 2 up when Neymar received the ball in the box and slammed it into the roof of the net. Two minutes into the second half Hulk found Fred who slotted the ball into the far corner to wrap things up for Brazil. Spain were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute, but Ramos hit wide and in the 68th minute Pique was shown a straight red for hacking down Neymar on the run. Julio Cesar denied Spain a consolation goal with 2 outstanding saves in the last 10 minutes as Brazil went on to lift the Confederations Cup a year before hosting the World Cup.
