Zambia sink Sudan to reach semis

Ten-man Sudan bowed out of the competition as Zambia reached the last four. Sunzu ghosted in at the near post to head in from a free-kick with a quarter of an hour gone, but the match was within Sudan's reach until the 65th minute when a rash challenge in the box earned Ali Idris a second yellow and Zambia a spot-kick. Akram stretched out an arm to save from Katongo who knocked in the follow up, and with Zambia controlling the game substitute Chamanga put the icing on the cake, placing the ball in off the far post from just inside the box with 4 remaining. (Zambia 3 Sudan 0)

Drogba double downs hosts

Yaya Toure scored to confirm co hosts Equatorial Guinea's exit after Didier Drogba had netted twice for the Elephants. Danilo guessed right to save a penalty from Drogba on the half-hour mark but 6 minutes later Drogba took advantage of a defensive slip-up to run into the box and compose himself before firing past the keeper. Drogba hammered in a powerful header in the 70th minute and in the 81st minute Yaya Toure bent a free-kick beautifully into the top corner off the post to completely extinguish Equatorial Guinea's hopes. (Equatorial Guinea 0 Ivory Coast 3)
