Mali overcome setback to progress

A goal 15 minutes from time gave Mali the win they needed to reach the next round after having gone a goal down to Botswana. The game came to life in the 51st minute when Moatlhaping delivered a low ball into the box for Ngele to run onto and convert with a thumping side-footer from the centre of the box. Only 6 minutes later Marumo saved brilliantly from Maiga's towering header, but Dembele was on hand to knock in the rebound for Mali who completed their comeback in the 75th minute when Dembele curled the ball into the top corner from outside the 18 yard box. (Mali 2 Botswana 1)

Ghana draw sends Guinea home

A draw was enough to see Ghana through as group winners, but Guinea were eliminated. In the 28th minute Agyemang Badu received the ball from a corner kick, lifted it up and smashed it superbly into the top corner from outside the box, but Guinea drew level just before the break when Camara crossed a high ball over the keeper's head and into the back of the net. The 69th minute dismissal of Bah for a second yellow card and news of Mali's lead in the other match proved too much for Guinea. (Ghana 1 Guinea 1)
