A solo effort from Christopher Katongo gave Zambia a win over co hosts Equatorial Guinea and top spot in group A. With a draw enough for both teams to qualify there was very little to get excited about until the 67th minute when Katongo ran along the18 yard box from the left and lashed the ball inside the near post for the match decider. Libya bowed out of the competition with a win over one of the pre-tournament favourites Senegal. The Libyan whose progress depended on Zambia losing their match took the lead in the 5th minute when Osman slotted the ball through to Albousaifi who poked it between the goalkeeper's legs, but only 6 minutes later Ndiaye rose to head a corner in off the near post. With 7 minutes remaining, Zouay lifted the ball into the path of Albousaifi who smacked it in on the volley for the winner. (Libya 2 Senegal 1)
