Sudan earn historic draw

Manucho and Bashir scored a brace each for their respective countries as Angola and Sudan shared 4 goals. Manucho robbed a Sudanese defender in the 5th minute and rattled the ball in off the post, but Mohamed Bashir got between 2 defenders to head in for Sudan. Four minutes after the break Djalma was brought down in the box and Manucho tucked away the resulting penalty, but in the 74th minute an Angolan defender chested the ball into the path of Bashir who hooked it into the top corner to earn Sudan their first point in the finals since 1976. (Angola 2 Sudan 2)

Elephants through

Ivory Coast made it 2 wins out of 2 to secure passage to the next round and end the hopes of Burkina Faso. In the 16th minute Drogba whipped in a low cross from the by-line for Kalou to fire home from just outside the 6 yard area and despite Burkina Faso testing Barry between the sticks and clipping the bar with a Dagano header in the 72nd minute it was action at the wrong end that sealed the match when Bakary Kone headed a long ball back over his keeper for an own goal 9 minutes from time. (Equatorial Guinea 2 Senegal 1)
