Egypt have final word

The Pharaohs of Egypt avenged their World Cup qualifier defeat by thrashing eight-man Algeria 4-0 to once again reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations. Motaeb tested Chaouchi in the Algeria goal with a shot in the 25th minute but the keeper dived to his left to push the ball away. Halliche who had allowed Motaeb in with a failed clearance brought the Egyptian down and received a 2nd yellow in the 37th minute. Hosni's stuttering run deceived the Algerian keeper who was lucky to be only shown a yellow card for his protestations. Al Hadari saved a Yebda free-kick in the 61st minute, but 4 minutes later at the other end Zidan got into the box and picked the top left corner past the despairing Chaouchi. Belhadj received a straight red for a vicious tackle on Al Muhammadi in the 70th minute and 10 minutes later Zidan slipped the ball to Abdel Shafy who beat Chaouchi from a tight angle. Chaouchi was the 3rd Algerian to get his marching orders when he kicked out at Geddo who had just been caught offside with 3 minutes left. Egypt passed the ball about in stoppage time and scored a forth with Geddo applying the finishing touch. Egypt will meet Ghana in the final. (Egypt 4 Algeria 0)
