Ghana limp through

A single goal against Burkina Faso was enough to see Ghana through to the next round. Ghana who were missing their star player Michael Essien through injury and needed a win to avoid elimination, showed very little enthusiasm but with half an hour gone a cross into the box found Ayew who stooped unchallenged to head the ball past Diakite in the Burkina Faso goal. The 66th minute dismissal of Tall for an elbowing offence decreased the chances of Burkina Faso levelling the score and Ghana held on to reach the next round where they will meet hosts Angola. (Ghana 1 Burkina Faso 0)
