Gabon draw closer

Tunisia and Gabon played out a goalless draw in day 2 of group D. Chermiti had the best chance of the first half for Tunisia when he pounced on a weak back-pass in the 27th minute, but lost his footing and could not take advantage. Gabon who enjoyed a lot of possession, almost made the Tunisian keeper pay for misjudging a long free-kick from the left in the 2nd half, but will be happy with the 4 points they have after the first 2 matches. (Gabon 0 Tunisia 0)

Howler lets Lions in

Cameroon fought back to earn their first points of the competition after a howler by the Zambian keeper let them back into the game. Kameni in the Cameroon goal dived to prevent Rigobert Song heading the ball into his own net from a low cross but Mulenga knocked the rebound over the line to give Zambia an 8th minute lead. Three minutes after Mweene had saved Makoun's 35th minute shot, Kameni double-fisted a fierce free-kick from Kabala and made a reflex save to deny Christopher Katongo from the rebound. In the 68th minute Jeremi aimlessly hit a long ball into the box which Kennedy Mweene allowed to creep under his body and over the goal line, and 4 minutes later an attempted clearance from a cross came off Samuel Eto'o who turned the ball in to give Cameroon the lead. Kameni gave away a penalty in the 81st minute which Katongo coolly converted, but Idrissou headed Jeremi's cross into the corner of the net 4 minutes from time to give the Indomitable Lions victory over Zambia. (Cameroon 3 Zambia 2)
