Gabon upset Lions

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon got off to a disappointing start losing 1-0 to Gabon. Daniel Cousin got between 2 defenders and slotted the ball home in the 17th minute to give Gabon a surprise lead against Cameroon who had already hit the post with a strike from Emana in the 8th minute. Three minutes after the goal Ovono got down quickly at the other end to save from Webo and deny Cameroon parity. A minute from time Geremi's dipping free kick was tipped over the bar and 3 minutes into stoppage time Aubameyang hammered his free kick against the underside of the Cameroon crossbar in a rare attack for Gabon. (Gabon 1 Cameroon 0)

Points shared

Tunisia and Zambia shared the points in a 1-1 draw in their opening match of group D. Mulenga slotted the ball under the keeper at the near post in the 18th minute but Tunisia drew level 5 minutes before the break when Msakni ran to the by-line and knocked the ball back for Dhaouadi to dispatch high into the net. A low shot from Mikari hit the post 3 minutes into the 2nd half and fell to Darragi in an offside position. Zambia had a chance in stoppage time when Kalaba struck a vicious free-kick which the Keeper could only parry, but Zambia could not hit the target from the rebound. (Tunisia 1Zambia 1)
