Ghana celebrate opening win

Hosts Ghana opened the 26th Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 Victory over Guinea. Ghana dominated the first half and came agonisingly close in the 19th minute when Agogo struck the inside of the post with a header. Two minutes later Asamoah Gyan narrowly missed the target with an overhead kick and Essien headed the ball onto the same post in the 27th minute. Muntari struck the other post with a powerful snap-shot in the 40th minute, but the deadlock was finally broken in the 55th minute when Asamoah Gyan dispatched his penalty-kick high into the net. Oumar Kalabane who had committed the foul which lead to the penalty made amends 10 minutes later with a header against the underside of the bar which went in off the keeper's shoulder. Andre 'Dede' Ayew, son of the legendary Abedi Pele, came on for Ghana to force Kemoko Camara into a splendid reflex save in the 78th minute, but it was Muntari who scored the winner for the Black Stars in the 90th minute with a rocket into the top corner.
