Eto'o on top

Sudan went home after their 3rd successive 3-0 defeat. The Sudanese were given an early scare in the 2nd minute when after Joseph Desire Job's effort was blocked by Mahjoub El Moez the ball fell to Eto'o who had his first shot blocked by the keeper and lashed the rebound over the bar, but Eto'o made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 26th minute sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to become the top scorer in history of this competition. Epalle drove the ball into the box from the right in the 34th minute and it pinballed off 2 defenders to end up in the net for Cameroon's second goal. Sudan tested the Kameni several times with shots in the 2nd half, but it was once again Samuel Eto'o who got on the score sheet side-footing the ball into the bottom corner in stoppage time. Pointless point for Zambia

A draw against the champions of Africa was not enough to save Zambia from elimination. After a good run across the edge of the box Ahmed Fathi found Sayed Moawad who crossed the ball onto the foot of Amr Zaki to volleyed the Pharaohs ahead in the 15th minute, and it was Ahmed Fathi again in the 32nd minute, this time smashing a thunderous shot just wide of the upright. Hosni Abd Rabou had his header superbly saved by the feet of Kennedy Mweene on the stroke of half time and the rebound went a waste. Mweene tipped over a long distance shot from Zaki in the 59th minute, but it was Zambia who came close in the 78th minute when Clive Hachilensa's downward header bounced over the bar, and with a minute left the Katongo brought the ball under control and smashed it past El Hadari at the near post to give Zambia a point to take home with them. (Egypt 1 Zambia 1)
