Egypt lift cup on home soil The African Cup of Nations had to be decided on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless football. Drogba missed a glaring opportunity for Ivory Coast in normal time and Zaki had a goal disallowed late on in the match, but Egypt's best chance came 5 minutes into extra time when they were awarded a controversial penalty and Ahmed Hassan struck the post with his spot kick. In the penalty shoot-out after Drogba and Bakary Kone had had their penalties saved by El Hadary, and Abdelhalim Ali had missed for Egypt, Abu Treka stepped up to score the final penalty crowning Egypt champions of Africa for the 5th time.
