Drogba takes Elephants through
A minute into the second half, Drogba got on the end of a long pass and slotted the ball under the Nigerian keeper for the only goal of the match. In a match that lacked passion for a semi final, Nigeria did not create enough clear cut chances to threaten the Ivory Coast. (Ivory Coast 1 Nigeria 0)

Hosts reach final
Egypt booked a place in the final with a victory over Senegal. When Mendi fisted the ball away in the 35th minute Ahmed Hassan scored emphatically from the spot, but was ordered to retake the penalty. His second attempt was also converted with confidence. Niang equalized for Senegal in the 51st minute with an accurate header. Mido was responsible for some disgraceful scenes when he was substituted, but his replacement Zaki made an immediate impact by heading in the winner in the 80th minute. Egypt continued to attack, but Senegal had a last minute penalty turned down. (Egypt 2 Senegal 1)
